Tap into Library Resources without Leaving Home

Although our building is closed, there are still many library services just a click away.

Virtual Children's Services

For families who are missing our children's programs, Miss Christina holds virtual Music Time and Story Hour weekly.

Join her for musical fun on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and story time on

Fridays at 11:00 a.m both are virtual events on facebook.

Watch our Facebook Page for reminders and previous sessions.

For keeping up with reading and math, check out our Tumble resources on the library's website.

TumbleMath provides math picture books, lesson plans and quizzes, and TumbleBooks Library is an online collection of animated, talking picture books that teach young children the joys of reading.

For older students, a collection of eBooks appropriate for students in grades 7-12 is available through TeenBookCloud.

TumbleMath, TumbleBooks and TeenBookCloud are FREE resources made available through TumbleBooks.

Also available online for students and adults is TERC, the Testing & Education Reference Center. TERC helps guide learners with:

  • Test prep: Full-length, timed practice exams that simulate the actual testing experience for AP, ACT, SAT, PSAT, GED, HiSET and TASC exams. Diagnostic pre-tests help students determine where they stand and how much preparation they need before taking an exam.

  • College planning: Intuitive searches and quick results deliver information on more than 4,000 accredited schools, including school location, tuition, academics, admission requirements, campus life and much more.

  • Financial aid tools: Benefit from an undergraduate scholarship search, financial aid award analyzer, college savings calculator, tuition cost finder and more.

  • Career development: The Resume Builder and Virtual Careers Library tools assist students in building essential career skills—like how to build a resume, cover letter and interviewing tips for users at all career stages. Using the Career Module, tests help users map interests and aptitudes to the most suitable job categories, industries, and occupations.

  • International tools: Helps individuals prepare to pass the TOEFL (iBT), TOEFL (PBT), TOEIC and U.S. Citizenship tests with online practice tests and eBooks.

You will need a library card to use TERC. If you don't have one email the library at kittanninglibrary@hotmail.com.

While we wait at home for the "all clear" to explore distant lands, there's been no better time to learn (or brush up on) a language. Kittanning Public Library offers Mango, a personalized, adaptive language-learning experience that provides the tools and guidance you need to expand your language skills wherever and however you learn best.

Our favorite Mango features include:

  • Real-world conversations that won’t leave you lost in translation;

  • Voice Comparison for matching your pronunciation with native-speaker audio;

  • Listening & reading activities for reinforcing learned material and building new skills;

  • Personalized Review System that adapts to your individual learning pathway;

  • Culture Notes for unique insights into different cultures; and

  • Mango Movies for learning through engaging, authentic content.

Your community library is still here, offering support during these difficult times and waiting for your return when things get back to normal.

Which library services are you making the most use of during this social distancing period? And, which services or programs are you missing most? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
