Program Descriptions

Mondays

Walking Club

Calling all walkers!  Meet outside the library June through October at 7pm on Monday nights and head to the trail for an evening walk.  Good company, good times!

Tuesdays 

Homeschool Hangout
Held every Tuesday at 2pm during the school year, the makerspace and programming area will be available for homeschool groups to use the space, books, and resources of the library, and computers. Studying a specific topic or under a certain theme?  Requests for books and materials can be made ahead of time by calling or emailing the library!

Featured Makerspace
Held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm, our Makerspace will features a different DIY project or STEAM activity in Ford City Public Library’s Makerspace.  Open to ages 5-18.

Adult Book Club
Adult book club meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6pm to discuss either reader’s choice books or a book chosen together as a club.  Book club is open to anyone 18+ and is a judgement free zone!  Pre-registration and a library membership is required.


Wednesdays 

Preschool Storytime
Preschool Storytime is a half-hour storytime for children ages 3-5 with adult supervision required.  Miss Katie will lead the Storytime with songs, puppets, a story and a simple craft. Storytime is typically held in the library’s children area, but may be held in the Ford City Park or at the Clock Tower in the summer or for special occassions - check out calendar for location changes!  During the summer, Summer Storytime is open to children of all ages.

Drop-In Game Night

Our Drop-In Game Night will be held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 4pm.  Come as a group, family, or on your own and meet up with someone here to play!  We have a great selection of board games, chess, checkers, card games, and more.  Drop-In Game Night is open to all and open to whatever you want to play!


Thursdays

Historical Book Club 
Historical Book Club meets every other month (even months) on the first Thursday at 6pm to discuss either readers' choice books on a particular historical topic or a book chosen together as a club.  We all share a love of history and we have had some great discussions!  Pre-registration and a library membership is required.  

Legends at the Library
Local history comes alive at the library! Every other month (odd months) on the first Thursday at 6pm, a new local history topic will be explored, through books, artifacts, pictures, videos, and also guest speakers.  Past presentations have included PPG, Armstrong County in the Civil War, The Disappearance of Massey Harbison, the Battle of Kittanning,  the Lenni-Lenape and Native American Artifacts.

Story Night
Held every 2nd Thursday of the month at 6 pm, children ages 3+ and their families are welcome to attend a story reading and a family-friendly craft.  Afterwards, grab a Story Night log to read another two or more books together under the night’s theme - complete your card and collect a prize at the circulation desk!  

DIY Thursday
Each month, Miss Katie presents and guides you through a new DIY project!  DIY Thursday is held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6pm and is open to all ages (skill level depending).  Pre-registration is recommended as space is limited!  A library membership is not required to participate in DIY Thursday and there is no charge unless otherwise noted.

Kids History Corner
Every 4th Thursday of the month at 6 pm, children ages 3+ can participate in a historical presentation and work on a related craft.  Learn all about America, the world, and have fun!


Fridays

Coloring Club
Held every Friday at 2pm, come color!  We’ll have our makerspace area stocked with crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint sticks - you name it - and coloring pages and posters. Coloring is NOT just for kids - all ages are welcome to come color, destress, and have fun!

Saturdays

Baby Bookworms
Baby Bookworms is held on the 1st Saturday of the month @ 10am.  During this hour, the library’s children’s area is reserved for infants ages 0-2 and their caregivers.  Soft play mats, baby books, toys, and featured sensory activities, as well as resources for parents are available.  Parents/caregivers are welcome to use the hour as a time to meet, chat, and get out while playing with their little ones.

Other

 

American Girl Book Club
During Summer Reading, American Girl Book Club will meet 3 times and feature 3 different American Girl stories and related crafts.  Open to ages 8-12, pre-registration is required as books are limited.

 

American Girl Parties

Throughout the year, Miss Katie hosts American Girl Parties for ages 8-12.  Look for announcements around Valentine's Day, Springtime, and Christmas! Pre-registration is required.
