This year's Summer Reading Program features over 75 sessions of continued, new, and special event programs at Ford City Public Library! We offer programs for all ages throughout the week, on evenings, and Saturdays.  We hope to see you in the library this summer!

2023 Summer Reading Challenge

May 31st marks the official start date of our 2023 Summer Reading Program along with the start of our Summer Reading Challenge! Through July 8th, log the books you read, either on a paper log (available in the library) or on Beanstack.  Stop in the library between July 11th and 15th to redeem your reading logs for a prize!  This year, to reward all our readers, we have a variety of prizes available for everyone who meets a reading goal!

Maker Night

Tuesday 6/6 @6pm

Meet up for Maker Night with special guest and artist Sam Horgan as we reduce, reuse, and recycle materials into new works of art! Open to all ages, but parental supervision required for children under age 10.

Storytelling with Alan Irvine

Thursday 6/22 @6pm

All ages are welcome to attend an evening of fantastic multicultural storytelling by Alan Irvine! Parental supervision required for children under age 10.

Summer Reading Saturdays

FCPL is proud to present a different special event each Saturday during our Summer Reading Program.  No registration is required.

Saturday 6/3 - Chalk the Walk @12pm
Stop in the library from 12pm through the rest of the day to add your own personal touch to our sidewalks!  Chalk will be provided, all ages welcome to participate!


Saturday 6/10 - Community Gardening Tips and Tricks @11am
Join us from 11am to 1pm for resources, helpful tips, and all things for the love of gardening!

Saturday 6/17 - Touch a Truck @11am
Calling all kids (and kids at heart)!  From 11am to 1pm, the library will be hosting a variety of special vehicles to be explored!  Miss Katie will kick of the event at 11am with a story, with additional crafts and activities available inside.


Saturday 6/24 - Play & Grow Puppet Theater @11am
In partnership with the Armstrong County Community Theater, participate in a show, make your own puppets, and learn all about the theater.

Saturday 7/1 - Celebration in the Park
Come celebrate with us!  Ford City is kicking off its first Celebration in the Park this year, with the library holding a Pie Bake Off!  Ask a staff member
for details on how to enter!  *The library will close at 2pm*

Saturday 7/8 - Animal Appreciation @12pm
Orphans of the Storm will be at the library from 12pm to 2pm for a meet & greet with some of their animals, adoption information, and more!

Baby Bookworms (Ages 0-2)

Little ones can play & explore while parents and caregivers have a chance to chat.

LEGO Club (Ages 6+)

Put your building skills to the test at LEGO club! We'll have design inspiration, challenges, and more set up and ready for builders.  Creations can be left for display!  No registration required.


Sensory Friendly Story Time (Ages 6+)

Thursday 6/29 @6pm
Join us for a special storytime where we will engage our senses in gentle ways and explore the theme of weather. This program is designed for families with children who have sensory needs - all families are welcome to attend but please be considerate of others in attendance.

Legends at the Library presents Heinz History Center
